FAQ
How long have you been in business?
CEG Dealer School has been in operation as of February 2014. We moved to our current location at 4850 W. Flamingo Road as of July 2015.
What makes CEG different than other dealer schools?
We put a focus on individualized attention and flexible hours to ensure that every student receives the best foundation to grow and move up in the casino industry.
What is your student/teacher ratio?
At any given time, the maximum ratio of students is 4-6 students per instructor.
What are your class schedules like?
There are no set class schedules. Each table game will have it’s own syllabus and list of exercises and skills that students will have to master before receiving their Certificate of Completion.
What games do I need to learn?
Although you are able to apply as a table games dealer with only one game, most high end properties in Las Vegas will require you to be proficient in at least 3-4 different games before you are able to apply. At CEG, we offer the choice of Blackjack, Baccarat, Craps, Roulette, and Specialty Games (Pai Gow Poker, Texas Hold’em, Three Card Poker).
How long will I need to study before I can find work?
The length of study will depend on your own schedule. You may take as little or as long as you need. At CEG, we have a faster turnover than other schools due to our flexible scheduling and most students master most games in 3-4 weeks.
Are your instructors current practitioners?
The instructors at CEG Dealer School have extensive high limit dealing experience at Red Rock Hotel & Casino, Wynn Las Vegas/Encore, and The Cosmopolitan.
How does your placement program work?
At CEG, we provide all students with job placement assistance and interview preparation. Upon completion, students are given a list of casinos that are hiring first-time dealers. We currently have working relationships with many local casinos in Las Vegas because they know that when they receive an application from CEG, they’re going to get a proficient and professional dealer.
What are the salary expectations for a table games dealer?
Wages for first-time dealer jobs average $13-$15 an hour including tips. Full-time dealers on the Strip can expect to make around $55,000-$100,000 a year depending on the property and their days off.
Is there job flexibility in this field?
A career as a casino dealer can be very flexible. Many dealers also attend school or have other jobs on the side. Most casinos now only require three day a week availability, so this is a perfect part-time job option to earn extra income.
What are normal casino hour shifts like?
Almost all casinos are on a three shift system. Swing shift is normally 8pm-4am, graveyard is 4am-12pm, and day shift is 12pm-8pm.
